Looking Back at the ODBD May 2016 Mid-Month Release

Howdy friends!  Happy Memorial Day!  Today we are taking another look at the  Our Daily Bread Designs May 2016 Mid-Month Release!  I used two of the western themed stamp sets for my project…Howdy and Ride 'Em Cowboy.

Creative Nugget:  The Bendi Frame Card Tutorial was modified to make a dimensional shadow box frame that was attached to the front of the card base.  Rectangle and Double Stitched Rectangle Dies were used to create the frame.  A scene was then layered inside the frame to create my card sample using the new Howdy and Ride 'Em Cowboy stamp sets.  The mountains from the Keep Climbing stamp set were masked, stamped twice, and watercolored on water color paper to form the back of the scene. The mountains were stamped and water colored again on mixed media paper so that the silhouette image from Howdy could be added.  This layer was fussy cut and popped up on the background.  The cowboy image from Ride 'Em Cowboy was stamped, fussy cut and adhered to the inside of the frame to create a third layer of dimension.  A cactus was added to the scene along with a sentiment which was stamped on a piece cut with the Log Cabin Quilt Die.  **Hint: these pieces are perfect for stamping sentiments!  A little lasso made from twine was attached behind the sentiment to finish the card.

Scrap Box Creations

Hello friends!  I have several cards to share with you that I am posting on the Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps Blog today.  If you are like me, you probably have a scrap box full of designer paper scraps…why is it so hard to throw those little scraps away?  My scrap box is overflowing, so I decided to dig in and use up some of those scraps for my cards.

Creative Nugget:  Paper scraps were stitched together to make the sun rays behind the farm scene.  Two of the images from Landscape Silhouettes were merged to make the scene.  Some Color Burst powders were used to make the sunny colors behind the scene.  The sentiment from the For My Father stamp set was cut with one of the Decorative Plaques Dies.

Creative Nugget:  For my second card, 3/4" strips were cut from DP scraps to make the herringbone pattern on the background. The panel was then embossed to give it a quilted look.  Sew Happy Cocoa is back in stock at the Sweet 'n Sassy Stamp Store and I couldn't resist using him for my Sew Thoughtful card.  The sentiment was stamped and cut with one of the Mini Tag Dies.

All of the stamp sets and dies used on these creations are currently available at the Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps Store and ready for shipment.

Take some time to check them out along with all of the other favorites that are now back in stock.
Today is the last day to receive a free gift with your $25 purchase before shipping and discounts!

Inspirational Nugget:  These cards serve as a reminder that God can take all of the pieces of our lives…put them together in just right way and make something beautiful!  Nothing is wasted!

"And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose."
Thanks so much for stopping by…have a wonderful weekend!

Howdy friends!  Welcome to the Our Daily Bread Designs May 2016 Mid-Month Release!  YEA!  ODBD is releasing a few more stamps and dies this month.  Our earlier release was definitely feminine while the stamp sets and dies being released today are perfect for creating cards for the men in your life.  So, Yee Haw…let's take a look!

Three randomly selected winners will each receive a $25 gift certificate to the ODBD Store to be used toward the purchase of ODBD Stamps found in the "stamps column" of the website just for commenting on the Design Team cards!  You have until May 18, 2016 at 9:00 p.m. EDT to leave your comments on the Designers' Blogs for a chance to win!  The Winners will be posted on the ODBD Blog on May 19th, so be sure to check back there to see if you won!

My first sample was made using the Ride 'Em Cowboy stamp set.

Creative Nugget:  The Ride 'Em Cowboy image was stamped on the paper from the Patriotic Collection and that along with a coordinating paper were cut with the Star Quilt Die.  The pieces from the image were then carefully inlaid back into the Star Quilt frame.  Additional pieces of paper were cut to frame the image and fill the 5 1/2" card base.  The sentiment was cut with a Circle Die and matted with one of the Pierced Circle Dies.  A lasso made with jute was added to finish the card.

My second card was made with the new Howdy stamp set.

Creative Nugget:  Pieces of card stock and papers from the Cozy Quilt Collection and the Blooming Garden Collection were cut into triangles and stitched to the card front to form the rays behind the cowboy image.  The Grass Border was cut twice and layered over the rays.  A stencil was placed over a watercolor wash on Mixed Media paper and allowed to air dry to make a background for the cowboy image from the Howdy stamp set. This panel and the mats were cut with the Circle Dies and the Pierced Circle Dies.  The sentiment was also stamped on the watercolored background and cut with a Double Stitched Rectangle Die.  The cactus was stamped several times, fussy cut, and added to finish the card.

Looking Back at the ODBD May 2016 Release

Welcome, my friends!  Today we are taking a look back at Our Daily Bread Designs May 2016 Release.   I am having so much fun with the vintage and tea time images released this month at Our Daily Bread Designs.

My sample today uses the new Tea Time stamp set.

Creative Nugget:  The base of the card is a Z-Fold.  Since I save every scrap from my Shabby Rose Paper Pad (can't bear to throw them away), some were used to create a herringbone pattern on the back panel which was embossed with the Majestic Medallion Die.  The Tea Time teapot and roused were colored with Copic Markers and cut with the matching Teapot and Roses Dies.  These were mounted on a Pierced Rectangle and the Filigree Frame.  The tab at the top which keeps the card closed was stamped with a sentiment from the Medallion Sentiments stamp set, cut with a Pierced Circle Die, and mounted on a Circle die cut.

When the card is opened you can see a greeting from the Tea Time stamp set mounted to one of the Lavish Layers.

A dyed seam binding bow was added to finish the card.

Here are the new products from the
Our Daily Bread Designs Store used to make this card…

How's it Growing?

Hello friends!  How's it growing where you are?  With all of the rain we've been having, everything has been growing…FAST…especially the grass.  Time to mow again!  LOL!  Hope your week got off to a good start.  Just popping in to share a quick card made with a new stamp set released by Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps.

Creative Nugget:  Winnie is back with a darling new stamp set called Winnie's Garden.  The TH rays stencil was used to sponge on the sun rays on the background.  A piece of flowery DP was stitched across the bottom to ground the images.  Winnie and the little flower were colored with Copic Markers.

Today is also my day to share on the SNSS Creative Worship Blog so I thought I'd share here as well.  The challenge this week in the Creative Worship Bible Journaling Facebook Group is to do a page in the book of Proverbs.

Inspirational Nugget:  The wisdom in the book of Proverbs is so profound and perfect for navigating all the issues of this life…relationships, finances, family, the way we spend our time, our conduct…everything, but apart from God there can be no wisdom!  I need to seek His wisdom every day!

The products used on these projects can be found at the Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps Store:

The card above will be submitted for the following challenges:

Thanks so much for stopping by…have a wonderful day!

My first sample was made using the My Soul Thirsts stamp set and several of the new dies.

Creative Nugget:  The card fold was made by cutting 2" down from the top and 2" off the bottom, discarding the middle section.  The panels were lined with papers from the Beautiful Boho Collection.   Beautiful Border die cuts were added to the top and bottom sections.  The mug from My Soul Thirsts was colored with Copic Markers and cut with one of the new Pierced Rectangle Dies. This panel holds the top and the bottom sections together.  The inside of the card was embossed with the Majestic Medallion Die and the sentiment was cut with a Pierced Oval Die and matted with an Oval die cut  Pretty Posies and Lovely Leaves dies were used to make the floral embellishment.  Some silk ribbon  was added to finish the card.

My second card was made with the beautiful new Good Day stamp set.

Creative Nugget:    I saw this Triple Panel Standing Card fold on Pinterest, but no directions...so came up with my own version. The 11" x 5 1/2" card base was scored at 2 3/4", 4 1/8", 6 7/8", and 8 1/4".  Each of the panels were lined with papers from the Cozy Quilt Collection.  The Good Day hat image was colored with Copic Markers, cut with the Pierced Oval Die and layered onto an Oval, Pierced Rectangles, Filigree Frames, Rectangles, and an embossed and stitched Majestic Medallion panel which was adhered to the center of the card.  Pierced Circle and Circle Dies were used to cut and mat the sentiments and Pretty Posies, Bitty Blossoms, and Fancy Foliage die cuts were used to embellish the other two panels.  Prills were added to the centers of the flowers and little silk bows added to finish the card.  The card folds into a 5 1/2" x 5 1/2" square.
