Sweet Little Girl

Happy Tuesday, everyone!  I'm so glad you stopped by because it's time once again for a new Shining the Light Challenge at the Our Daily Bread Designs Blog. We love seeing your submissions in the gallery, so I hope you will be able to join us again this week.

This week's challenge is:
Black and White with Our Daily Bread Designs Stamps Only

To make the challenge even more fun, we will be giving out a PRIZE, a $15 gift certificate to be used toward stamps at the Our Daily Bread Designs store!!  Entries for the prize must be submitted by Sunday, March 3rd at 8 p.m. EST.  One random winner will be chosen and announced next Saturday.

Here are the challenge details:

This week you will need to use an Our Daily Bread Designs image or sentiment on your creation.  We will be choosing three or more participants for the Shining the Light Award.  In order to qualify for this award, you must use Our Daily Bread Designs stamps and have your submission added to Mr. Linky by Sunday, March 3rd at 8 p.m. EST.  If you upload your creations to Splitcoaststampers or any other online gallery, please use the keyword ODBDSLC143.  When creating your posts on blogs, please include a link to the challenge.

Here is my Black and White sample:

Creative Nugget: The darling vintage image from the Little Girls stamp set was stamped using Versafine Onyx Black ink and cut with a Labels One Die.  Just a bit of Spun Sugar Distress ink was added to the edges while still in the die. A combination of black and white papers from the Enchanted Paper Collection by Bo Bunny, Spellbinders dies, and a Cheery Lynn Sweetheart Frame die were used to frame the little girls.  The sentiment from the same set was cut from a Spellbinders tag and sponged with a very little bit of Spun Sugar.  A Wrinkled Ribbon bow was dyed with the Spun Sugar ink pad and added to the card along with a few little pink heart crystals...I just had to give these little girls a touch of pink!  LOL!

Here is the stamp set from Our Daily Bread Designs used to create this card,

Please take time to visit the other talented Sister Sticks for more fabulous inspiration!

Thanks so much for stopping by...have a wonderful week!

Easter Crocus

Good morning to all!  I hope you've had a wonderful week! It's finally Saturday, and time for a new sketch at The Sweet Stop.  I don't know about you, but I'm ready for spring! Before you know it, Easter will be here, so I'm using the sketch this week to add another Easter card to my stash.

Creative Nugget:  Have you noticed all the yellow and gray creations out there in Blogland and on patterned papers?  I never would have put these colors together on my own, but they are a lovely, soft combination, so my card features these colors.   A new stamp set by Our Daily Bread Designs called Earth's Gladdest Day was used to create my sample.  The crocuses were colored with Copic Markers and two extra flowers were colored and popped up for dimension.  The panel was cut with a Rectangle Nestie and mounted on Smokey Shadow card stock.  The patterned paper layers by My Mind's Eye were also stitched to Smokey Shadow. The doily is actually a Splendid Circle die cut.  The sentiment from the He Lives clear stamp set by Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps was added at the bottom.  Everything was adhered to a Vintage Cream card front.  The Wrinkled Ribbon bow was dyed with a distress ink pad and the pearl, colored with a Copic Marker to match, was added to finish the card.  Hope you like it!

Be sure to check out some other creative samples using this sketch by the other Sugar Babies...you won't be disappointed, and they will provide wonderful inspiration for your SSS199 submission!

ODBDSLC143 Easter

Hello stamping Friends!  It's Tuesday and time for a new Shining the Light Challenge at the Our Daily Bread Designs Blog.  With Easter less than five weeks away, this week's challenge is very timely.

This week's challenge is:
Easter - Make an Easter card or project

Here are the challenge details:

To make the challenge even more fun, we will be giving out a PRIZE, a $15 gift certificate to be used toward stamps at the Our Daily Bread Designs store!!  Entries for the prize must be submitted by Sunday, February 24th at 8 p.m. EST.  One random winner will be chosen and announced next Saturday.

While it is not required to use Our Daily Bread Designs images and sentiments on your creations, we would love to see them if you have them.  As a way of recognizing those who do use Our Daily Bread Designs stamps, we will again be choosing three or more of our participants for the Shining the Light Award.  In order to qualify for this award; however, you must use Our Daily Bread Designs stamps and have your submission added to Mr. Linky by Sunday, February 24th at 8 p.m. EST.  If you upload your creations to Splitcoaststampers or any other online gallery, please use the keyword ODBDSLC143.  When creating your posts on blogs, please include a link to the challenge.

Here is my card for the Easter Challenge:

Creative Nugget:  A beautiful stamp set just released this month by ODBD called Earth's Gladdest Day was used for my sample. Since I wanted to play with the crocus image and create lots of depth, a Concertina Fold was used for the card base.  Each panel was lined with Kioshi DP by BasicGrey.  Spellbinder's Floral Doily Accents and Motifs Dies were used for the decorative elements and the borders.  The crocus image was stamped multiple times, colored with Copic Markers, and each was fussy cut and layered onto the different panels.  The following views show the different layers and the fold better.

Here is the Stamp set that was used to make this card,  Earth's Gladdest Day:

Oh Hap-Bee Day!

Oh hap-bee day to you, sketch lovin' friends!  Saturday means a new sketch at The Sweet Stop and because it's the third week of the month there's a spin on this one. Since Spring is right around the corner, we want to see birds or bees on your stamping projects this week.  One lucky participant will also be eligible to win a PRIZE...a $15 credit at the Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps store!

Creative Nugget:  I reached for Bee Happy Rhubarb for my sample this week...he's the most adorable bee....don't you agree!  Here he is, all colored up with Copic Markers and cut with a Hexagon Nestie and mounted on a True Black Scalloped Hexagon.
Lilybeedesign and Studio Calico patterned papers were used for the decorative panels, while the So Saffron panel was embossed with a honeycomb design.  All layers were stitched to True Black mats and attached to a Pure Luxury card base.  The sentiment was stamped on a hand cut banner.  Diamond Stickes adds a bit of sparkle to the wings and pearls were added to Rhubarb's antenna. Doesn't this card just make you want to smile!  Oh Hap-bee day!

I'm so excited to be participating in my first ODBD Hop! I've chosen the Love One Another stamp set for my sample and decided to create an Accordion Fold to display all the verses in the set.

Creative Nugget:  Here is my sample, closed and tied with some dyed wrinkled ribbon.  To give the card stability, the front and back were made by cutting two pieces of chipboard with the Labels One Die and covering both sides with designer paper.

The inside panels feature more of the scripture verses included in the set as well as the pretty intertwining heart wreath image which was colored with Copic Markers.

A variety of heart punches, dies, lace, twine, pearls, and ribbon were used to embellish each panel.

The scripture verses in this set are perfect for sending a little love to a special someone and to remind us that all love comes from God, who is LOVE!

Your next stop on the hop is the very sweet and very creative, Angie!

Thanks so much for stopping by...enjoy the remainder of the hop!

Hugs,
Cathymac

ODBDSLC142 - Animals

Hello challenge lovin' friends!  I hope and pray that all our friends in the Northeast have recovered from the big snow storm that hit that area last week, that everyone's power has been restored, and lives are getting back to normal. What a blessing it is to know that when tragedy strikes, good people rally around those who need help and support.

This being Tuesday, it's time once again for another Shining the Light Challenge at Our Daily Bread Designs.  If you are an animal lover like I am, you will enjoy this week's challenge!

This week's challenge is:
Animals - Use an animal on your creation.  It can include birds.  It does not have to be the image...it can be an embellishment or on designer paper as well.

Here are the challenge details:

To make the challenge even more fun, we will be giving out a PRIZE, a $15 gift certificate to be used toward stamps at the Our Daily Bread Designs store!!  Entries for the prize must be submitted by Sunday, February 17th at 8 p.m. EST.  One random winner will be chosen and announced next Saturday.

While it is not required to use Our Daily Bread Designs images and sentiments on your creations, we would love to see them if you have them.  As a way of recognizing those who do use Our Daily Bread Designs stamps we will again be choosing three or more participants for the Shining the Light Award.  In order to qualify for this award; however, you must use Our Daily Bread stamps and have your submission added to Mr.Linky by Sunday, February 17th at 8 p.m. EST.  If you upload your creations to Splitcoaststampers or any other online gallery, please use the keyword ODBDSLC142.  When creating your posts on blogs please include a link to the challenge...thank you!

Below is my sample for the Animal Challenge!

Creative Nugget:  This adorable image is from the Lord Is My Shepherd stamp set.  It was colored with Copic Markers, cut with an Oval Nestie, and mounted on a Soft Sky Scalloped Oval Nestie. Different designer papers were stitched to True Black card stock and mounted on a Soft Sky card front.  The sentiment from the Earth's Gladdest Day stamp set, just released this month, was stamped in the lower corner right on the DP.  The border from the Serve the Lord stamp set was stamped on Soft Sky and cut with the matching Crocheted Border Die.  Since I don't have a rolled rose die, I punched scalloped circles from the DP, cut them in a spiral, and rolled from the outside in to create my own.  Pearls were added to the insides.  A Cheery Lynn Flourish, some ribbon and decorative pearls were added as embellishments to finish the card.  I hope you've been inspired to create your own animal card for this week's challenge!

The other talented Sister Sticks have created some gorgeous samples for you this week.  Be sure to check out their blogs and galleries and leave a little love!

The sentiment was stamped on an oval nestie.  The rolled roses were made by punching a scalloped circle, cutting it in a spiral, and rolling the spiral from outside in. Little pearls were glued to the inside of the roses.  Other embellishments include ribbon, a pearl brad, and die cut leaves.

Creative Nugget:  "In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him.  In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins." (1 John 4:9-10) These wonderful verses inspired the heart behind the silhouette of Calvary.  The sentiment "He Lives!" was clear embossed repeatedly on the heart die and sponged with distress inks.  The image was stamped, cut, and popped onto the heart.  This was layered onto a scalloped heart die, lilybeedesign patterned paper, True Black card stock, and finally, to a Solar Crest card front.  Broken China Distress Ink was used to dye the ribbon to match the DP, and the sentiment was stamped to finish the card.
